Project 1 – Data Visualization and Dashboard for a Network of Vending Machines

Project Overview

Prevision Lab undertook a significant project to streamline and enhance data operations for a network of over 600 vending machines. Our primary objective was to aggregate real-time data from each machine into a unified database, setting the foundation for advanced data processing and analysis.

Challenges and Solutions

The incoming data comprised various metrics, including the technical status of each vending machine, user interactions, and the quantity and identification of collected bottles and cans. Our challenge was to not only gather and process this diverse data but also to convert it into meaningful insights.

To address this, we developed additional analytics and processing capabilities. This allowed us to present both standard quantitative and qualitative metrics and complex calculations. We measured the downtime of vending machines during various errors, assessed the KPIs related to the service team’s performance, and implemented control metrics to detect anomalies and potential fraud.

Integration and Feedback System

A significant achievement of this project was the integration of vending machine data with the client’s loyalty system and feedback collection mechanism. This integration enhanced customer service quality, enabling quick identification and diagnosis of both local and widespread issues, including those hidden from standard diagnostic mechanisms.

Results and Impact

Our team created over 100 tables and charts for various user groups, including service personnel, customers, company management, shareholders, and administrative staff. Over a year, the system accumulates more than 100 GB of information, with all final graphs updating every 5-10 minutes.

The project’s success lies in its ability to provide comprehensive, real-time insights into the vending machine network, significantly improving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
